Summary
Loop collects the account and golf data you give us so the app can work — track your rounds, compute your handicap, and connect you with friends. We do not sell your personal data or show third-party ads.
1. What we collect
Account: your email address and the sign-in method you choose (Apple, Google, or email/password). Apple and Google may return a name and email when you sign in.
Profile: the name, username, optional photo, home course, privacy setting, and equipment you add.
Golf activity: rounds and hole-by-hole scores, putts, fairways, shot plots, notes, practice sessions, and the courses you play.
Swing analysis (Pro): when you submit a swing video, still frames extracted from it and the resulting AI coaching text. The video itself never leaves your device; the frames are processed to generate the analysis and are not stored by Loop — only the coaching result is saved to your account.
Social: who you follow, your kudos and comments, clubs you join, group-round scorecards, and tee-time RSVPs.
Usage events: a small set of in-app events (like app opened, round logged, paywall viewed) tied to your account so we can understand which features matter. Never sold, never used for third-party advertising.
Subscription status: whether you have an active Loop Pro entitlement (via RevenueCat and your app store). We never receive your payment-card details.
2. How we use it
To provide the app: store your rounds, compute your handicap and analytics, render your feed, and sync across your devices. To operate social features you opt into (following, clubs, group loops, sharing). To send in-app notifications about activity relevant to you. To maintain security and prevent abuse.
3. Where your data lives
Your data is stored on Supabase, our backend and database provider, on infrastructure in the United States. Profile photos are stored in Supabase Storage. Subscription state is processed by RevenueCat. For AI Swing Analysis, extracted swing frames are sent to Anthropic, our AI provider, solely to generate your coaching; under Anthropic's commercial API terms they are not used to train its models. Course lookups query GolfCourseAPI with course names only — no personal data. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
4. Camera, microphone & photos
Loop asks for camera and photo-library access only when you choose to set a profile photo, attach a round photo, record or upload a swing video, or scan a friend's QR code to follow them. Swing recordings are muted — iOS requires microphone permission to capture video, but no audio is kept. Images you pick are uploaded only when you save them; the QR scanner reads codes on-device and is never recorded. We do not access your library in the background.
5. What others can see
Your profile and public posts are visible to other Loop users; a private account's posts are visible only to approved followers. You control each round's visibility (public or private). Per-hole notes are private to you and never shared. You can change your privacy setting or make posts private at any time.
6. Sharing & disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers above (Supabase, RevenueCat, Anthropic for swing analysis you request, GolfCourseAPI for course lookups, and your app store) to run Loop, or when required by law. Round cards or Wrapped recaps are shared only when you tap Share and choose where they go.
7. Your rights
You can view and edit your profile in the app, change your privacy setting, and make posts private at any time. You can delete your account directly in the app (Profile → About → Delete Account) — deletion removes your rounds, posts, swing analyses, and profile from our systems. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights to access or export your data; contact us to exercise them.
8. Retention, children & contact
We keep your data while your account is active and delete it when you close your account (backups age out on a rolling basis). Loop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Questions or requests: support@thegolfloop.com.
